Whilst it is great that the resort is targeted towards families, this also means that you need to be smart when planning so that you can all enjoy a fun, valuable and memorable trip.
Early Booking
The phrase the early bird catches the worm certainly applies when booking a family ski holiday. This is because you can benefit from a wider choice of accommodation, special offers and reductions on flights, transfers and hire costs. Additionally, childcare places can be limited and you will certainly want to use this service if you are planning some peace and quiet! Booking early also allows you to secure a place at ski school for your children.
Weekend Trip
Many parents think that they need a long holiday to make the most of what is on offer, but you can actually benefit greatly by planning a weekend trip (or anything shorter than a week). The key reason for this is that you can make huge savings on accommodation, lift passes, ski lessons and daily expenditures. Additionally, this allows you to book out-side school holidays so it will be quieter (as well as cheaper!).
On top of this, a weekend is a good window for learners as it allows them to get to grips with the basics without becoming bored or tired. Whilst your trip may be more con-densed, you can still see and do it all whilst making big savings.
What to Expect
Lift Passes: There is a range of family ski passes available that can provide big savings (everyone pays the child's rate). There are also beginner and pedestrian passes available if required.
Ski Schools: One of my favourite aspects of La Plagne is the fact that it features superb ski schools that will help kids (and adults) to develop their skills and confidence. There are multiple English speaking schools in each village with half and full-day sessions available. These schools have dedicated areas where beginners can get to grips with the basics. This is also a great way for your kids to make some new friends!
Ski Areas: La Plagne is part of the world famous Paradiski region - this vast expanse features has over 425km of pistes, many brilliant snowparks and a modern ski lift infra-structure which makes getting around simple and straightforward. There are beginner areas in each resort and slow drag lifts. Additionally, there are kid friendly slopes and Magic Carpets throughout La Plagne.
Accommodation: There is a range of excellent family-friendly accommodation and this is one of the reasons that so many parents flock to La Plagne. Chalets are ideal for families because they are comfortable, spacious and private. Additionally, there is self-catered and catered chalets available, so you can enjoy family meals together each day (another fantastic way to save money!).
It is no surprise that so many families come here for their ski holiday and you will struggle to find a better family-friendly resort than La Plagne. Chalets, ski schools, zero cars and a friendly atmosphere all make this a great choice, but be sure to plan in advance for a successful trip!
